Buddhists in Thailand worship in Wats, which also double as monasteries. Most males will spend some time as a monk, even if it is only a few weeks. Monks shave their heads and wear the bright orange robes. At dawn, monks leave the wats on their morning alms round where the faithful will give them food and receive a blessing.
In order not to give offence, women should avoid touching monks and should they wish to pass anything to them they should leave it where the monk can pick it up.
