We are always told that brushing your teeth is the best defense against oral health problems, but did you know that brushing incorrectly can do more harm than good? Here are some examples of how brushing can actually damage teeth:
* Brushing too hard - This can lead to gum recession and gum bleeding. Brush lightly but thoroughly.
* Brushing right after a meal - This causes softening of the enamel. You have to wait at least an hour after eating before brushing.
* Brushing for only a short period of time - If your brushing time is too short, it's possible that you are not able to reach all of the surfaces that might still have food particles sticking to it. The recommended time of brushing is 2-3 minutes.
